Wir waren vor zwei Wochen in einer Beratung bei Inga und ich muss sagen es hat unglaublich viel geholfen beim Elterngeldantrag. Sie hat mehrere Möglichkeiten angegeben damit wir mehr Zeit mit unserem Sohn verbringen können. Sie hat über mehrere Optionen erzählt die wir vorher nicht kannten. Sie hat uns auch über die Rechte, die schwangere Frauen gegenüber ihrem Arbeitgeber haben, informiert. Das war für mich vorher unbekannt. Eine sehr kompetente Dienst, mit herzlichen Menschen! I was a little sceptical at first enlisting the help of a baby concierge... how hard can it be to navigate around an unfamiliar system - can't be that different?!?! Coming from the UK my head was spinning at the thought of finding a midwife, hospital, surgeon and understanding the laborious bureaucrat procedures that aren't exactly straightforward. Lorna Ather helped with all of the above and more and I am eternally grateful for her advice and recommendations. We found the perfect surgeon, midwife, and having Lorna's guidance really helped in navigating our way through a potentially very stressful situation. We arrived to Berlin when I was 8 months pregnant and suffice to say we had no arrangements for giving birth here. Also barely speaking any German, so suffice to say we needed a lot of help. Lorna was our guardian angel I could say. She helped us with securing an English speaking midwife (and a really great one I may add), recommended duolas, an English speaking OBGYN, English speaking pediatrician and probably most important secured hospital registration for giving birth. She also guided us through the amount of paperwork that needed to be filled in and offered crucial advise about transferring my healthcare insurance from the UK to Germany (which I never even knew it was possible in the first place). In addition Lorna also helped with our parental and child allowance paperwork (which is a nightmare even for Germans let alone for someone that is new to the country and does not speak the language and to top it off also had special circumstances with moving to Germany just before giving birth). I don't think we would have managed without Lorna! We've already recommended Maternita and Lorna to other friends and acquaintances and will absolutely continue to do so in the future. Working with Lorna was one of the best decision we ever took. Saved us a lot of stress and pain.

Maternita offers much-needed help in sorting out all the logistics of having a family in Berlin - from finding professionals (midwife, doula, pediatrician, etc) to completing necessary paperwork. The service is especially valuable if you don't have a strong enough command of German to feel comfortable with the paperwork on your own. Even if the language is no issue, it's reassuring to have someone help you know the options and manage these processes. Lorna gives excellent advice and is easy to work with.
